Asara – Cute
Asara is the solo project of Sarah Pitet, a Parisian multi-instrumentalist who spent the last four years as guitarist, bassist, keyboardist and vocalist in Dog Park. “Cute” is her debut single, out on GÉOGRAPHIE — the same label that hosts Dog Park — and it comes with a video she co-directed with Titouan Penthier. A solo album is in the works, written throughout 2025, described as an audio diary documenting her 28th year. Clairo, Smerz and Blood Orange are cited as reference points.
“Cute” is about watching someone you’re leaving cry — a loaded subject handled with a notably light touch. Crisp drum machine, a bouncing guitar riff, a small synth line, and Pitet’s voice out front. The song doesn’t linger in the difficulty of the moment; it keeps its eyes on what comes next, which is a more interesting emotional choice than the subject might suggest. What catches my ear is how the production stays restrained — nothing overplays, the arrangements don’t crowd the vocal — and that discipline is what makes it feel direct rather than slight. For a debut single, it’s confident without being showy.
The album is due in autumn 2026 on GÉOGRAPHIE, and “Cute” is a strong opening page of that diary.
